We’re are all humans and one of the main things we have in common, is that we are all gifted time to live our lives on Mother Earth. We sometimes partake in the occasional (or more frequent) indulgences life has to offer with all the different menu choices. So regardless if you’re a strict vegetarian, vegan, meat eater, have a flexible diet (flexitarian) and drink alcohol or not, we all want to live a disease-free.
Another common wish we all share is to have stress free days and when we do it can add years of enjoyment to our lives. Daily detox measures help counteract the less healthy items we put in our body, as well as the environmental factors such as air pollution, for which we have little control over. Exercising and meditation help support a relaxed mind that is focused on the present moment with less worry about the past and future.
At Bali Detox Retreats we recommend doing a detox retreat at least once a year. Yet it can be short-lived, so we offer you the following steps to detox your body EVERY SINGLE DAY, giving you the benefit of a longer, healthier and more relaxed lifestyle.

The following list is in order of what you may do every day after waking up in the morning:
- Tongue scraping with affirmations and brush your teeth 3x a day.
Yes, it sounds funny, but this quickly cleanses the tongue of accumulated bacteria and toxic debris from the night before. Think of it as giving your body an extra assist in the detox process, while also achieving better breath! Using positive affirmations get you to start your day off with the right attitude. I promise you’ll be hooked. When brushing your teeth use toothpaste without fluoride. Baking soda with some essential oil to flavor it works best and is very inexpensive.
We tend to know when our cars need an oil change yet when it comes to our human body we don’t always know what techniques we can use to flush out our own engines. Eliminate and cleanse your colon by using a squatting aid like the Squatty Potty – watch below:
While also taking daily fiber supplements such as a tablespoon of flax seeds, probiotics, digestive enzymes, and incorporating colon cleanses such as colonics or enemas. Keep a jar of flaxseed next your toothbrush and take a tablespoon a day to support your colon.
- Dry body brushing.
Before showering or bathing, dry brush your body head-to-toe, using long strides toward the heart. This activates the lymphatic system, stimulates blood circulation, and enhances toxin elimination through our body’s largest organ — the skin!
Using positive affirmations will also support reducing negative thought patterns and keeping your attitude about life positive.
- Try hydrotherapy showers.
Hydrotherapy encompasses a large range of approaches and methods. An easy way to incorporate hydrotherapy daily is by alternating between hot and cold water every 30 seconds in the shower. Cold water stimulates, causing blood vessels to constrict, while hot water relaxes and causes blood vessels to dilate. This alternation of hot and cold water improves elimination, decreases inflammation, removes wastes from tissues, and stimulates circulation.
- Detox bath.
I have a magical detox bath formula resulting from many years of research and testing. And, yes, I’m sharing it with you! Take one every week to cleanse from the outside in.
- Dead sea salts / Epsom salts (2 cups): draw toxins out through the skin
- Baking Soda (2 cups): naturally alkalizing substance helps remove toxins. Also a great aid when drinking just 1 tea spoon in a glass of water.
- Fresh ground ginger (1 tbsp): heats-up body temperature, encouraging perspiration
- Therapeutic-grade essential oils (4 drops each): Geranium, eucalyptus and juniper berry possess powerful agents aiding in detoxification or use an oil you love like Lavender to support better sleep.
- Learn the art of Self Massages.
This deserves two exclamation points. Massages increase circulation, stimulate the lymphatic system and remove toxic build-up. They also feel pretty good!
Drinking to Life
- Drink hot lemon water.
Kick-start the detoxing process first thing in the morning by drinking a cup of warm water with lemon.
- Lemon is an excellent and rich source of vitamin C, an essential nutrient that protects the body against immune system deficiencies.
- Lemons contain pectin fibre which is very beneficial for colon health and also serves as a powerful antibacterial.
- Balances and maintains the pH levels in the body.
- Helps flush out toxins and aids digestion, producing digestive juices.
- Is a great source citric acid, potassium, calcium, phosphorus and magnesium.
- Helps prevent the growth and multiplication of pathogenic bacteria that cause infections and diseases.
- Lemon helps balance the calcium and oxygen levels in the liver In case of a heartburn, taking a glass of concentrated lemon juice can give instant relief.
- Have a fresh cold-pressed juice.
Drinking on an empty stomach, which allows your body to absorb the nutrients more quickly. A wonderful detox elixir: lemon, spirulina, pineapple, banana and ginger – similar to one of our detox drinks at our retreat in Bali:
- Sip a detox tea.
Sip a few cups of detoxifying tea blends throughout the day. Look for ingredients such as dandelion root, ginger, burdock and licorice root.
- Add apple cider vinegar.
Along with a host of other benefits, apple cider vinegar alkalizes the body and helps detox the liver. Buy the raw, unfiltered and organic variety.
- The best drink of them all, is water.
Buy a high quality water filter and save on bottled water. Alkaline machines can be purchased direct from China at 1/3 of the cost of the multi-level marketing companies. This is also true of Reverse Osmosis water machines as well. However, Reverse Osmosis water is considered dead water and you will need to make it alive again with added Lemon, Cucumbers, Minerals, Crystals and or essential oils.
Eat Right to Support Your Life
- Eat clean.
Incorporate fiber into your diet to keep the elimination process flowing. If you eat fish limit or avoid high-mercury fish such as swordfish, tuna, mackerel, shark, marlin and grouper. They eat off the bottom of the ocean and this is where heavy metals sink to. General rule to follow: larger fish typically have higher levels of mercury. If you eat meat look for free range grass fed animals. Avoiding refined sugars, processed foods, alcohol, caffeine and non-organic fruits and veggies gives your body the highest quality nutritional support.
- Eat detoxing foods and supplements.
The liver and kidneys serve as the body’s filtration system, and thus are integral to overall health and cleansing. Incorporate the following to aid in continual kidney and liver cleansing: parsley, cilantro, dandelion root, licorice root, cayenne, turmeric, red pepper, garlic, lemon, lime, grapefruit, sea vegetables (seaweed salad, and nori), artichokes, beets, cruciferous vegetables, wheatgrass, spirulina, chlorella and milk thistle.
Exercise every day …
Even 15 minutes a day can keep the doctor away
- Sweat and Stretch.
Sweating is crucial for expelling toxins and stretching supports flexibility. Use an infrared sauna, which assists in removing heavy metal toxins stored in fat tissues. This is one of the best investments in your life. They cost around $2,000 – $4,000 yet if your family use it every day you break even in a year!
Other options are to take a Hot yoga class — or any yoga class! Qi Gong is an amazing way to move the body and feel the energy that is inherent all around us. Walking and bicycling is also an easy way to exercise to support your health and longevity.
Scientifically shown to help the cardiovascular, lymphatic, endocrine and nervous systems, inversions reverse the flow of gravity, stimulate the lymphatic system, and aid in blood purification.
Traditional inversions include:
- Shoulder stand
- Headstand or handstand
- Legs propped up against a wall
- Yoga swings or inversion tables
- You might as well Jump.
Just 10 – 15 minutes a day of jumping can add years to your life. Rebounding is great for stimulating the lymphatic system and increasing circulation. Small, portable trampolines are a quick and easy way to build jumping into your daily routine.
A Healthy Home
Introduce plants to your home (peace lilies, ferns and palms are great natural air filters), change A/C filters regularly, avoid harsh household chemicals, install chlorine filters, introduce an air purifier, and consider a reverse-osmosis water system.
